2004 Gambia Roots Festival

Donald Lindo, a keen Jamaican Genealogist, has produced a CD-ROM as an aid to research on Jamaican families. The disc contains his own research over many years which he has amalgamated with contributions from others who have done research into their Jamaican roots. Some family records go back as far as 700 AD.

The current edition (3rd) of ‘Genealogy of Jamaica’ contains over 60,000 names in the main database with connections to hundreds of Jamaican Families. It also has more than 1,200 pictures, (people, tombstones, documents etc.) numerous text files, over 7,000 burial records and hundreds of names of manumitted slaves (some with the reputed father’s names).

The disc is self-installing and includes the latest shareware version of the genealogy program "Brother’s Keeper" which facilitates additions of your research, prints charts, computes relationships etc.

Here are some extracts and comments from others who have purchased the disc.

"The CD has been a "gold mine" for me, I now have 10 generations when I included my children and 8 generations on my Myers branch.  I am currently working on getting more information from family members to continue my search."

(Eva Facey)

"The disk arrived today. I am thrilled!!!!! I am the granddaughter of Mary Alice Townend Michelin. I can fill in gaps in dates and places if you are interested. I have known about Utten Thomas Todd and Louisa Lamont for 30+ years and never thought I would ever know anything about them or THEIR ancestors. This is wonderful, thank you so much!!"
(Mary Alice King Sherrard)

"I received the CD-Rom yesterday. Thanks a lot, this is really exciting. I have followed all your instructions and it works great"
(Dagmar Berry)

The disc costs £25.00 (post free) and orders can be sent direct to Donald Lindo at:
P. O. Box 493, Halfway Tree, Jamaica

or by credit card through Donald’s Web Page http://www.discoverjamaica.com/shop/genealogy.html

Details of costs from other countries are given there.
