Lorlett
Hudson, founder and Managing Director of One Hand Cant Clap is a Life
Coach and educator who hails from the Caribbean. She has been inspired
by her grandmothers and her lifelong philosophy is based on 'collective
responsibility' and the creation of support networks that ensure individual
and collective success. The programmes developed by the company include coaching, personal development and training, emotional literacy, mediation and conflict resolution and are targeted at young people, parents and those who work with or for young people. Their main clients include schools, youth organisations, LEAs, YOTs, PRUs, hostels, health and Social Care providers. All One Hand Cant Clap programmes seek to address individual and collective development and counter underachievement by utilising a 'survivor to survivor' approach to transform, empower and support participants to fulfil their potential. Lorlett and her team believe that individual and collective experiences are fundamental in addressing social issues and engendering a culture of 'collective responsibility' and the promotion of active citizenship. Building on the importance of collective experiences has seen One Hand Cant Clap develop an important educational tool based on the cultural heritage of African Caribbean people. Gloria Copeland - Operations Director, feels 'that culturally relevant educational resources are needed to inspire, motivate and enhance self esteem and confidence of black and minority ethnic communities who have been marginalised and ignored'.
